Taz-Mania is a 2D side-scrolling platform and adventure game developed by Recreational Brainware and published by Sega for the Mega Drive in 1992. It is based loosely on the Taz-Mania cartoon series, itself a spin-off of the classic Looney Tunes character the Tazmanian Devil. The story sends Taz on a quest to find a mythical Lost Valley where giant seabirds nest and lay eggs large enough to feed a family for a year. Players guide Taz through a series of colourful levels, and he can eat almost everything he encounters, which helps him fight enemies along the way. A notable feature of the Mega Drive version is its musical soundtrack, one of the first to use a tagged system that reacts dynamically to the player's actions. The game was a bestseller in the UK for two months and remains a popular retro title for fans of licensed 16-bit platformers.
