About this deal
X-O Manowar is a superhero comic series published by Valiant Comics, launching with issue #1 in February 1992. The story follows Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth barbarian captured by alien invaders, who steals their ultimate weapon -- the X-O Manowar armour -- and returns to Earth only to find that 1,600 years have passed, making the most primitive man on the planet the wielder of the most technologically advanced weapon in existence. The original creative team included writers Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart, with artists Barry Windsor-Smith and Bob Layton. The Unity crossover and quality storytelling brought significant attention to Valiant books early in the run, with back-issue prices rising sharply due to limited early print runs. The original series ran for 68 issues before being cancelled after the September 1996 issue. This lot of 16 issues is a great starting point for collectors interested in the early Valiant Universe, and the series continues to have a dedicated fan base among fans of 1990s independent superhero comics.
