This is a used metal miniature from the classic Games Workshop Vostroyan Firstborn range, released in 2006 as part of the Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) faction for Warhammer 40,000. The Vostroyans are a proud people who pledge the firstborn child of every family to the Astra Militarum as penance for refusing to aid the Emperor during the Horus Heresy; their home world of Vostroya is a powerful industrial planet, and its regiments honour a tradition of passing down ornate equipment to new recruits. The miniatures are visually inspired by real-world Russian Cossacks and the Tsarist Russian army. Officers in the Vostroyan Firstborn are drawn from richer noble families , and Vostroyan soldiers retain a very archaic appearance compared to the rest of the Imperial Guard; their weapons are passed down from firstborn to firstborn and are usually worth more than the guardsmen who carry them, with officers bearing lasguns integrated with axes. These highly collectible metal miniatures can still be used in games of Warhammer 40,000 as stand-ins for Cadian Shock Troops and more.
