The TOPPING DX1 is a compact desktop DAC and headphone amplifier aimed at budget-conscious hi-fi enthusiasts and those upgrading from a basic PC audio setup. It is built around AKM's AK4493S DAC chip, a 32-bit upgrade from the classic AK4493, part of the Velvet Sound technology family. It supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD256 decoding. No separate power adapter is needed, as a single USB cable handles both power and data, and it is plug-and-play with Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. The front panel features both 6.35mm and 3.5mm headphone outputs alongside a volume knob, while the rear provides RCA line outputs, a gain switch, and a USB-B port. Output power reaches up to 280mW at 32 ohms, and a discrete LNRD (Low Noise Reference Driver) circuit filters out interference from the USB 5V supply, providing a clean and stable power source.
