The SMSL R1 is a compact desktop DAC and headphone amplifier aimed at audio-conscious gamers and music lovers who want better sound from a PC, gaming console such as the PS5, or other digital sources. It uses an ES9018K2M DAC chip for high-quality digital-to-analog conversion, and achieves low distortion (THD+N 0.009%), a dynamic range of 98dB, and a headphone output of up to 120mW at 32 ohms. The chassis is made from aluminium alloy and is available in black or silver finishes. The device has three digital inputs for connecting sources such as a PC, Android phone, CD transport, or gaming console without needing to install drivers. It includes a 3.5mm microphone input, a 3.5mm headphone output, and a 4.4mm output for balanced listening. There are three built-in EQ presets plus independent treble and bass adjustments ranging from -9dB to +9dB , making it easy to tailor the sound to your preferences. When headphones are plugged in, the line output is automatically turned off.
