Created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee, the Sentry first appeared in The Sentry #1 in 2000 as part of Marvel's Marvel Knights imprint. The series focuses on a middle-aged man named Bob Reynolds who one day remembers he is in fact a superhero called the Sentry, and follows him as he attempts to warn other Marvel characters about the return of his foe, whilst figuring out why no one can remember his alter ego. The five-issue miniseries segued directly into a set of flashback one-shots in which the Sentry teamed up with the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Angel, and the Hulk, with these one-shots leading to The Sentry vs. the Void, a further one-shot that wrapped up the story. This complete run is a sought-after key comics lot, combining the full miniseries with all five related one-shots, and is particularly relevant now that the Sentry has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thunderbolts* (2025), portrayed by Lewis Pullman.
