About this deal
The Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K was launched on 23 April 1982 as the more powerful of two debut models, packing 48KB of RAM. Affectionately known as the Speccy, it was Sinclair's first computer capable of colour output and one of the most popular personal computers in the UK throughout the 1980s. It runs on a Z80A processor at 3.5MHz, with one-channel, ten-octave sound, and ports including expansion I/O, RF, Ear, and Mic. Video output is 256 x 192 resolution with 15 colours, though each 8 x 8 pixel block is limited to a maximum of two colours. The 48K is remembered for its rubber keyboard, compact size, and distinctive rainbow motif. Known for its colourful graphics, it inspired a generation of coders and gamers in the 1980s, and its vast library of software makes it a must-have for retro collectors. Boxed units typically came with a Horizons starter cassette and instruction manual, and original 48K Spectrums were commonly bundled with the Sinclair Software Six Pack including titles such as Horace Goes Skiing and Chess. Boxed and complete examples fetch higher prices than incomplete units , making this a particularly desirable find for enthusiasts.
