About this deal
The Commodore 64 Golden Edition was produced in 1986 to mark the sale of one million C64 computers in Germany. Commodore celebrated the milestone by presenting the C64 in its traditional breadbox case dipped in a sparkling golden colour, with both the exterior and interior of the case painted gold. The machine was unveiled to the public at the BMW museum in Germany, and approximately 350 units are reported to exist. Aside from its striking appearance, the computer is otherwise a standard breadbox C64, featuring 64K of RAM, a video chip capable of 16-colour graphics, and a 3-voice SID sound chip. The computer came mounted on a decorative plaque. Units were distributed to hardware and software companies, magazine publishers, and distributors. This numbered example, complete with its original box and presentation plate, is a highly sought-after piece of home computing history.
