About this deal
The Sinclair QL (Quantum Leap) is a personal computer launched by Sinclair Research in 1984 as an upper-end counterpart to the ZX Spectrum, aimed at serious home users as well as professional and executive users in small to medium-sized businesses and higher education. It is powered by a Motorola 68008 processor clocked at 7.5 MHz and includes 128 KB of RAM, officially expandable to 640 KB. The machine runs QDOS, a pre-emptive multitasking operating system, and also includes SuperBASIC, an advanced structured BASIC interpreter. The QL ships with two built-in Sinclair Microdrives and a full-size keyboard, and is bundled with four business programs by Psion: Quill (word processor), Archive (database), Easel (business graphics and charts), and Abacus (spreadsheet). Connectivity includes an expansion slot, ROM cartridge socket, dual RS-232 ports, proprietary QLAN local area network ports, dual joystick ports, and an external Microdrive bus. A boxed, tested, and working example is increasingly sought after by retrocomputing collectors and enthusiasts.
