About this deal
The Phantom Stranger is a DC Comics character whose second ongoing series ran from 1969 to 1976, making issues 23, 24, 25 and 33 firmly part of the Bronze Age. The series follows the Stranger helping innocents against supernatural threats, with sceptic Dr. Thirteen as a recurring foil, and a supporting cast that includes the sorceress Tala, the mage Tannarak, and the blind occultist Cassandra Craft. Secret Origins issue 10 is a Legends tie-in that presents four possible origins for the character, including one by Mike Barr and Jim Aparo drawing on the Wandering Jew myth, and another by Alan Moore and Joe Orlando in which the Stranger is a fallen angel. The four origins deliberately contradict one another and were never intended as canon, reinforcing the Phantom Stranger as an enigmatic figure with an intentionally unknown past. A solid bundle for fans of Bronze Age DC horror and mystery comics.
