This is a single issue from the original Viz Comics monthly run of the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga, written and illustrated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The Special Collector's Edition was a distinct format published alongside the standard edition: rather than being flipped to read left to right, it was printed in the original Japanese right-to-left format, with the original Japanese sound effects retained. This made it one of the earliest unflipped manga releases in English. The series follows teenager Shinji Ikari, who is recruited by his father to pilot a giant biomechanical weapon called an Evangelion to fight monstrous beings known as Angels. Part 7 of the series sees Shinji reach breaking point and resign in fury as the powerful Angel Zeruel attacks NERV headquarters, with Kaji potentially the only person who can persuade him to return.
