About this deal
Heavy Metal is an American science fantasy comics magazine, first published in 1977, known for its blend of dark fantasy, science fiction, erotica, and steampunk comics. Unlike traditional American comic books of the era, which were bound by the restrictive Comics Code Authority, the magazine-format Heavy Metal featured explicit nudity, sexual situations, and graphic violence. As an adult illustrated fantasy magazine, it provided a showcase for some of the most interesting artists and storytellers working across mainstream and various subgenres of fantasy and sci-fi. This lot of 9 issues spans two distinct eras of the title: 1998 and 2012. Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, took over publication of Heavy Metal in 1992 , shaping the issues from the late 1990s period included here. The magazine ran popular serialised stories, showcased graphic literary adaptations, and published authors including Ray Bradbury and Stephen King. All 9 issues are stated to be in very good condition, making this a solid addition to any collection of cult illustrated magazines for adult readers with an interest in fantasy and science fiction art.
