About this deal
This is a used 1/100 scale plastic model kit of the TuRanfaM (also romanised as Torunfam), one of the Round Vernian (RV) mecha from the classic 1983 Sunrise mecha anime series Galactic Drifter Vifam, a mecha anime television series produced by Sunrise. The series was loosely based on Jules Verne's novel Deux Ans de Vacances and was originally drafted by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam. Mechanical designs were by Kunio Okawara, who previously designed mecha for the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. The Round Vernians are space robots for the Earth Federation Forces; because they are designed for work in outer space, vernier thrusters for posture control and movement are attached to various parts of the body, enabling very free spacewalking. The pilot controls the RV by docking whilst boarding a small escape pod, so they can detach in an emergency. This kit is being sold used and requires assembly; it appeals to fans of vintage 1980s mecha anime and collectors of retro Japanese robot model kits.
