About this deal

Weird Western Tales was a DC Comics anthology published from 1972 to 1980, and it is best known for featuring the adventures of Jonah Hex, who headlined the title until issue 38 (January/February 1977) when he was promoted to his own eponymous series. These three issues from 1976/77 fall right in that celebrated final stretch of Hex's run on the title. A former Confederate soldier, Hex travelled from town to town helping those in need and stopping evildoers. Written primarily by Michael Fleisher, issues from this period typically featured a Jonah Hex lead story backed up by secondary strips such as El Diablo. The 30-cent cover price places these firmly in DC's mid-Bronze Age. Graded VG+ (4.5), the copies show honest wear but remain solid reading and display copies, making this lot a good entry point for collectors interested in Bronze Age Westerns or in following Hex before his solo title launched.
