Disney's The Lion King is a video game based on the classic 1994 animated film, published by Virgin Interactive and released on the Sega Mega Drive among other platforms. Following Simba's journey from a young cub to a battle with his uncle Scar as an adult, it is a side-scrolling platformer in which the player leaps, climbs and runs across a variety of levels. Notably, the sprites and backgrounds were drawn by Disney animators at Walt Disney Feature Animation, and the music was adapted from the film's soundtrack. This PAL cartridge comes complete with its original manual, making it a more desirable find for collectors. Bonus stages let players control Pumbaa and Timon, adding variety beyond the main platforming action. GamesMaster ranked the Mega Drive version 4th in its Mega Drive Top 10 in 1996, and the title remains a favourite among retro gaming enthusiasts and Disney fans alike.
