About this deal
Turrican is a run-and-gun action game released for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, developed by The Code Monkeys and published by Accolade. The game is often described as a cross between Metroid and Psycho-Nics Oscar, with its large explorable levels and morph-ball mechanic inspired by Metroid, while the weapons and visual design draw from Psycho-Nics Oscar. Unlike many action games of its time, Turrican does not force the player through a linear level, instead allowing exploration and the uncovering of secrets. Players control a warrior in the Turrican Assault Suit battling through stages, equipped with a spread gun and laser, with power-ups granting grenade bullets and a screen-clearing vertical flash, as well as a controllable lightning whip whose range can be extended. There is also the ability to morph into a buzzsaw form, similar to Metroid's morph ball, which makes the player invincible but can only be used a limited number of times per life. This complete copy includes the original cartridge, manual, and poster, making it a solid find for retro collectors and fans of classic 16-bit action platformers.
