Tokyo Mew Mew is a Japanese shojo manga written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi, originally serialised in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from September 2000 to February 2003 across seven volumes. It follows five girls infused with the DNA of endangered animals, giving them special powers and the ability to transform into Mew Mews, who band together to protect Earth from aliens. Tokyopop licensed the series and released the first English volume in April 2003. A La Mode is a direct sequel written and illustrated solely by Mia Ikumi, and introduces a new Mew Mew called Berry Shirayuki, who becomes the temporary leader of the team while they face a new threat from the Saint Rose Crusaders. Berry is notable as the first Mew Mew to have two sets of animal genes. Tokyopop published the two A La Mode volumes in June 2005 and December 2006. This lot offers the complete Tokyopop English run of both series and is a solid pick for fans of magical girl manga or the rebooted anime.
