About this deal
Tiger was a weekly British comics periodical published by Amalgamated Press, Fleetway and IPC, subtitled "The Sport and Adventure Picture Story Weekly". It featured a large number of sport strips, the most famous of which was Roy of the Rovers, which debuted in the very first issue. Other well-loved strips included Billy's Boots, Johnny Cougar, Hot Shot Hamish, Skid Solo and Death Wish. Tiger ran for over 1,500 issues and featured columns by famous sports personalities including Ian Botham, Geoff Boycott and Trevor Francis. Tiger Holiday Specials were published from 1971 to 1984, making them a sought-after offshoot of the main weekly title. This mixed lot is ideal for collectors of British Bronze Age comics, offering a snapshot of a defining era in UK boys comics publishing. Tiger was eventually merged into the relaunched Eagle in 1985, with annuals continuing until 1987. Issues from this period are increasingly collectible, particularly those in decent condition.
