The Thames & Kosmos Geckobot STEM Experiment Kit is a hands-on construction set aimed at children aged 8 and up. The wall-climbing robot uses a motorised air suction system that enables it to walk vertically up and down perfectly smooth surfaces, such as glass, plastic, whiteboards, and glossy laminates. A battery-powered motor drives an innovative gear system that produces a rotating motion, making the legs move back and forth and up and down to mimic a real gecko, with two feet touching the wall while the other two are lifted, in an alternating motion. As well as the Geckobot itself, you can build six additional robotic models, giving seven different builds in total. These include an industrial robotic arm with a vacuum suction cup gripper, a crawling inchworm, a smartphone holder, a suction tow truck and car, an ellipsograph, and a suction gun. The kit includes 176 building pieces, suction cup pads for the feet, and a motor. A 24-page full-colour manual guides assembly with step-by-step illustrated instructions and provides scientific information and explanations throughout.
