The Synology RackStation RS2416RP+ is a powerful 12-bay, 2U rackmount NAS aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, with support for the Btrfs file system enabling snapshots and straightforward data recovery. It is powered by an Intel Atom C2538 quad-core processor running at 2.4 GHz and comes with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, expandable to a maximum of 6 GB across two memory slots. The RP+ variant distinguishes itself with redundant power supply units to maximise service uptime and business continuity, alongside four Gigabit LAN ports for redundancy and hot-swappable drives to minimise downtime during replacements. The unit accepts 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA hard drives as well as 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, and connectivity includes two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and one expansion port. Storage capacity can be expanded to 24 drives via a compatible RX1214 or RX1214RP expansion unit, supporting up to 168 TB in total without disrupting service.
