About this deal

This lot covers issues from the later stretch of DC's long-running Superman Volume 2, a series launched in 1987 following John Byrne's post-Crisis on Infinite Earths revamp of the character. It was the first ongoing Superman title set in the revised continuity established after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and it followed directly from the Man of Steel limited series that effectively rewrote Superman's history. From 1999 onwards the series was revamped under writer Jeph Loeb, whose run introduced Imperiex, a Joker-created Bizarro in the Emperor Joker storyline, and the controversial arc in which Lex Luthor became President of the United States. The issues in this lot span roughly 1998 to 2003, taking in a particularly eventful era for the title. Loeb's run also included the Our Worlds at War crossover event, which saw the destruction of Topeka, Kansas, and serious damage to Smallville. During the mid to late 1990s, DC used a secondary numbering system on each cover, informally known as the "triangle" numbers, to help readers follow the chapter-based continuity that ran across the Superman family of titles. This is a solid collection for fans looking to fill gaps in their run, presented in Very Good to Very Fine condition.
