Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is a 1994 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. A spin-off of the Mario series, it puts you in control of Wario -- the antagonist from Super Mario Land 2 -- as he sets out to plunder a pirate-held island and amass enough wealth to buy his own castle. Players traverse side-scrolling levels, avoiding obstacles and jumping between platforms, whilst collecting coins and treasure to progress. Battery-backed memory saves your progress for many hours of play. Wario has tough moves at his disposal, such as the body slam, and can don different magic hats to transform into Jet Wario, Bull Wario, and Dragon Wario. Unlike the Super Mario series, where coins are typically used to earn extra lives, coins here serve as currency -- and the more treasure you collect, the bigger the castle Wario receives at the end of the game.
