The SLAMTEC RPLIDAR S1 is a 360-degree 2D laser scanner (lidar) solution aimed at robotics developers, researchers, and engineers working on autonomous systems. It uses TOF (Time of Flight) ranging technology, which guarantees the ranging resolution does not change with distance. The system performs a 2D 360-degree scan within a 40-metre range , and the generated 2D point cloud data can be used in mapping, localisation, and object or environment modelling. It can take up to 9,200 samples of laser ranging per second , and the typical scanning frequency is 10 Hz (600 rpm), adjustable within the 8-15 Hz range, with a 0.391-degree angular resolution at 10 Hz. The RPLIDAR S1 works well in all kinds of indoor environments and outdoor environments with direct sunlight. It features an enclosed cover to protect its interior mechanism from external interference, providing a stable working environment suited to industrial applications. Equipped with SLAMTEC's patented OPTMAG technology, it breaks the life limitations of traditional lidar systems for long-term stable operation.
