Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan is an unlicensed Sega Mega Drive beat-em-up developed by Taiwanese studio Never Ending Soft Team, based on the classic 14th-century Chinese novel Water Margin. It was first published in 1996 and re-released in 1999. The game is a rare and sought-after piece of retro gaming history, ideal for collectors of obscure Mega Drive titles or fans of classic brawlers. Set in ancient China, the game follows three selectable characters fighting waves of enemies with swords. Players can also perform special attacks by pressing A, damaging all enemies on screen. The gameplay is comparable to Streets of Rage , making it accessible to fans of that genre. A full English translation was later published on cartridge by Piko Interactive in 2015 , but the original Chinese-language Mega Drive cartridge remains a genuine collector's curiosity.
