WarpSpeed is a space flight simulator created by Accolade for the Sega Mega Drive , released in 1993. Scenarios are divided into quadrants, with players flying sector by sector or using faster-than-light warp travel, navigating asteroid fields and destroying mines along the way. During gameplay, the player receives transmissions covering objectives such as clearing minefields or reaching sectors before the enemy, as well as distress signals from space stations under attack. The game offers four different spacecraft to use, each with progressively stronger weapons, with the player upgrading automatically as their score increases. A damage system affects the performance of the craft -- damaged engines reduce top speed, and a damaged weapons system means weapons may not always fire correctly. Space stations throughout each quadrant allow players to dock, refuel, and replenish their ship's systems, ammunition, and warp drive reserves. This PAL boxed CIB copy is a solid find for retro collectors, as the PAL version saw a limited release and complete boxed examples are increasingly hard to come by.
