The Ring Flood and Freeze Sensor is a compact disc-shaped device designed to protect your home from two of the most common and costly hazards. It alerts you to water leaks as part of the Ring Alarm and Ring Alarm Pro security systems, giving you a chance to act before costly home repairs are needed. Simply place it on the floor near sinks, bathtubs, showers, washing machines, water heaters, or any other potential source of leaks. It is powered by a single 3V C123A lithium battery, and uses a Z-Wave Plus radio to communicate with the Ring Alarm Base Station. A Ring Protect subscription (sold separately) is required to receive notifications when water is detected or when the temperature drops below 40 degrees Fahrenheit (around 4 degrees Celsius). Alerts are delivered as push notifications to the Ring app, or by email. It connects via Z-Wave with a range of up to 250 feet to the Base Station. Ring states the sensor should operate for up to three years on its battery. This is an open-box item, so it is worth checking all contents are present before use.
