About this deal
A UPS HAT (Hardware Attached on Top) is a battery-backed power expansion board that plugs directly on to the 40-pin GPIO header of a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, 2B or B+. It charges the battery and provides power output at the same time from an external supply, and automatically switches over to battery output if that external supply is lost, keeping the system running without interruption. The board follows the standard Raspberry Pi HAT form factor and uses a cascading design that powers the Pi and any expansion boards without affecting GPIO expansion. Four LED indicators show battery status, a removable 3.7V lithium battery is included, and a safety protection circuit prevents overcharge and over-discharge. Output is a maximum of 5V/2A, with up to 5V/2A input. The board supports up to 2A quick-charge technology to rapidly top up the battery. This makes it a practical choice for projects where unexpected power cuts could cause data loss or system instability, such as home automation, media centres or always-on Pi servers.
