About this deal
Pokemon Green Version (known in Japan as Pocket Monsters: Green) is one of the very first entries in the Pokemon series, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the original Game Boy. Released in Japan in February 1996, it was never made available outside of Japan. Set in the Kanto region, players collect eight Gym Badges to become Pokemon Champion while working to complete the Pokedex by catching all 151 Pokemon. The Pokemon sprites in Green differ notably from those used in the later Red and Blue releases, making it a distinctive piece of gaming history. The cartridge is physically playable on any Game Boy system, though all in-game text is in Japanese. Unlike the coloured cartridges of the international Red and Blue releases, the Green cart comes in classic Game Boy grey. The internal lithium battery in these cartridges is designed to last around 10 to 15 years, and many original copies have now reached the end of their battery life and can no longer hold a save. This cartridge has had its battery replaced and has been tested and confirmed working, meaning the save function is ready to use straight away. A rare and sought-after piece of Pokemon history, ideal for collectors or fans curious about where the franchise began.
