About this deal
Pokemon Gold Version is the sequel to the original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow games, and the first title in the second generation of the series, introducing many features that would become standard throughout the franchise. As a rookie Trainer, you explore the sprawling region of Johto , choosing one of three starting Pokemon -- Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile -- before taking on gym leaders, rivals and the Elite Four. The game expanded the Pokemon universe by adding 100 Pokemon, held items, Pokemon eggs, and real-time events thanks to an internal game clock. Two new Pokemon types were also introduced -- Steel and Dark -- and Pokemon could now have genders, which introduced the possibility of breeding for the first time. Completing the game also unlocks access to the entire Kanto region from the original titles, and the game is backwards compatible with Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow, allowing players to trade across generations. A much-loved classic, it is ideal for collectors and RPG fans of all ages.
