About this deal

Pokemon Crystal Version is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Color, released in Japan in December 2000. It serves as an enhanced edition of Pokemon Gold and Silver and is the final entry in the second generation of the Pokemon series. It is the only mainline Pokemon game exclusive to the Game Boy Color. Set in the Johto region, the game introduced several new features including additional story elements, a Battle Tower area, the option to play as a female protagonist, and animated Pokemon sprites during battles. The Japanese release also supported the Mobile Adapter GB, a peripheral enabling wireless connectivity between a Game Boy Color and a mobile phone for online interactions. The cartridge contains an internal battery used not only for the save file but also to track real-world time. Generation II cartridges typically lose the ability to save in a shorter time frame than other Pokemon games because the battery must maintain both the save data and the real-time clock simultaneously. This listing has had its battery replaced, meaning the save function works correctly -- an important consideration for any original cartridge of this age. Please note this is the Japanese release, so all in-game text will be in Japanese.
