Pandemic is a hugely popular cooperative strategy board game designed by Matt Leacock and published by Z-Man Games. Several virulent diseases have broken out simultaneously across the world, and players take on the roles of disease-fighting specialists whose mission is to treat hotspots while researching cures for each of four plagues. On each turn a player can use up to four actions to travel between cities, treat infected populations, discover a cure, or build a research station, while Epidemic! cards sprinkled through the deck accelerate and intensify the diseases' spread. The 2nd edition, released in 2013, introduced new artwork and two new characters: the Contingency Planner and the Quarantine Specialist. It supports two to four players and is suitable for ages 8 and up. It is a truly cooperative game where all players win or all players lose together , making it a great choice for families or groups who prefer teamwork over head-to-head competition.
