This is the Japanese first edition (shohan) of volume 31, published in 2003, and is ideal for collectors, fans of the original Japanese text, or anyone interested in an early printing of one of the world's best-selling manga series. Volume 31 contains chapters 286 to 295 and continues the Skypiea Arc. It features a flashback in which Montblanc Noland arrives on Jaya, befriends the Shandians while curing a plague, and promises to return -- only for Skypiea to be launched into the sky, leaving the Shandians cut off and fighting to reclaim a golden bell that would reunite them with Noland. As with all Japanese tankobun, it is printed on higher-quality paper than the original magazine, and includes new cover artwork, an author Q&A column, fan-art galleries, and other bonus features.
