The Nintendo Game Boy Color is a handheld game console released in November 1998, and is the successor to the original Game Boy. Compared with the original Game Boy, it features a colour TFT screen instead of monochrome, a CPU running at up to twice the speed, and four times as much memory. The familiar layout carries over from earlier models, with a D-pad, A and B action buttons, Select and Start, and a single speaker. Teal was one of the five original launch colours, with the word "COLOR" in the logo representing each of them. The console is backward compatible with games developed for its predecessor, and can even apply colour to many original Game Boy titles. Over time the system amassed more than 900 dedicated titles, in addition to the original Game Boy's catalogue of over 1,000 games.
