About this deal
The Game Boy Color launched in Japan on 21 October 1998 , making this Japanese unit a piece of genuine launch-era hardware. Teal was one of the five original colours in which the console was manufactured , and being boxed makes it a particularly attractive find for collectors. Compared with the original Game Boy, the Game Boy Color features a colour TFT screen instead of monochrome, a CPU running at up to twice the speed, and four times as much memory. The console also includes an infrared wireless link-up port , and requires two AA batteries. Game Boy Color hardware is not region-locked, so a Japanese unit will play cartridges from any region , meaning your existing game library will work without any issues. It is also backward compatible with games developed for its predecessor , giving access to a huge catalogue. Over time the system amassed more than 900 titles, in addition to the original Game Boy's catalogue of over 1,000 games -- ideal for retro gaming enthusiasts and collectors alike.
