This used, pre-owned bundle pairs a Nintendo Game Boy Color, an 8-bit handheld game console , in its green colourway with a copy of Pokemon Yellow. Compared with the original Game Boy, the Game Boy Color features a colour TFT screen instead of monochrome, a CPU running at up to twice the speed, and four times as much memory. It is backward compatible with games developed for its predecessor, giving access to a large library of titles. Like the Game Boy Light, the Game Boy Color requires two AA batteries. Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition is the enhanced version of the original Generation I Pokemon games, developed by Game Freak and released for the Game Boy with enhanced support for the Game Boy Color. The game is known as the Special Pikachu Edition, as you receive Pikachu as your starter instead of Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, with your rival starting with Eevee; the starter Pikachu follows you around outside its Poke Ball, a feature not used again until HeartGold/SoulSilver many years later. The gameplay is technically enhanced for the Game Boy Color, featuring a specialised colour palette that changes depending on the city or route the player is currently exploring.
