Pokemon Gold Version is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Color, and the first instalment in the second generation of the Pokemon series. It expanded the Pokemon universe by adding 100 new Pokemon, held items, Pokemon eggs, and real-time events powered by an internal game clock. The game also introduced Steel-type and Dark-type Pokemon, and players choose from one of three starters -- Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile -- before setting out across the Johto region.
