This lot comes from the Spider-Man ongoing series published by Marvel Comics, which ran for 98 issues from 1990 to 1998. The series was originally conceived as a showcase for Todd McFarlane, who was given his own Spider-Man title to both write and draw. McFarlane wrote and illustrated 15 of the series' first 16 issues, with many featuring popular Marvel guest characters such as Wolverine and Ghost Rider. The five issues in this lot span an eventful stretch of the run. Issue 7 is part of the Masques story arc and guest-stars Ghost Rider, with script and art by McFarlane. After McFarlane's departure, Erik Larsen took over the title and wrote and drew the six-issue Revenge of the Sinister Six arc, which covers issues 18 to 23 -- making issue 23 a key chapter of that storyline. Issues 27 and 28 feature a two-part story by writer Don McGregor and artist Marshall Rogers dealing with the subject of gun violence. A solid set for fans of early-1990s Marvel, all presented in near mint condition.
