Ghost Rider is the name of several supernatural antiheroes published by Marvel Comics. The first superhero incarnation, Johnny Blaze, debuted in Marvel Spotlight issue 5 (August 1972), created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog. He then received his own self-titled series in June 1973. Over the decades, the mantle passed to new characters: Danny Ketch debuted as a new Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider vol. 3 no. 1 in May 1990, and in 2014, Robbie Reyes became Ghost Rider as part of the Marvel NOW! initiative. This lot of 15 first issues spans that rich publishing history, making it a strong entry point for collectors. Ghost Rider is a supernatural agent indwelled by a Spirit of Vengeance who mounts a hellish vehicle to bring justice to evil ones with his Penance Stare. Possessed by a demon named Zarathos, Johnny Blaze constantly craves vengeance against evil, using his supernatural hellfire and Penance Stare to burn the souls of the wicked. First issues are among the most sought-after back issues in comics collecting, and all 15 copies in this lot are stated to be in Very Good condition.
