HEXplore It: The Valley of the Dead King is a hero-building adventure board game for one to seven players in which players work together to explore a modular map in a high fantasy world. You select your hero by combining a Role and a Race, then power up as quickly as possible to defeat the Dead King. The pressure is constant, as the Dead King also moves across the board, taking away your cities as you play. The Return to the Valley of the Dead King expansion lets one player take on the role of the Dead King himself, directly thwarting the other heroes. It also adds 3 new character roles, 7 new character races, 4 new bosses, 12 character traits, and 4 new artifacts. The Living Card Deck adds 60 new cards to supplement the core box, including new Circumstances covering encounters, treasures, and nature effects. It also includes 24 Quest cards and 24 Peril Cards, which introduce challenging scenarios with big rewards for heroes who overcome them. The Encounter Deck adds yet another new way to play by separating encounters into their own dedicated deck, and these encounters are not restricted to the volume they originally appeared in, allowing you to customise what appears in any game you play.
