HEXplore It is a series of hero-building board games for 1 to 7 players , and The Mountains of Godai is the tower defence volume, presenting a multitude of unique ways for heroes to build defences and stand against the elemental threat unfolding across the map. The game marries two separate mythologies into one setting, with two city-states on the same map: the Empire of Caprakan, inspired by Mesoamerican mythos, and the Empire of Ishidan, inspired by feudal Japan. Gameplay features cooperative play, dice rolling, a hexagon grid, a modular board, role playing, and variable player powers. Players craft their heroes by combining Roles, Races, Traits, and Aspects, where a Role embodies the hero's profession and Race denotes heritage, with further layers of customisation including Mutations, Familiars, Blood Magic, and Elemental Augmentations.
