HeroQuest is a classic fantasy adventure board game originally released in 1989 and redesigned by Avalon Hill under Hasbro, then re-released in 2021. In this dungeon crawl game, heroes work together to complete epic quests, find treasures, and defeat the forces of evil, with one player taking on the role of Zargon the Game Master while four heroes -- Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard -- team up in a maze of monsters and eerie dark dungeons. The game includes 65+ detailed miniatures and comes with 14 quests, with players also able to build their own quests and create their own stories. It is for 2 to 5 players, ages 14 and up. HeroQuest was designed as a gateway game to introduce new or inexperienced players to the world of tabletop role-playing games, though its accessible rules mean many players continue to enjoy it in its own right. Hasbro also offers a free HeroQuest Companion App, which can fill the role of game master and allows the game to be played cooperatively or solo.
