About this deal
The Greaseweazle V4.1 is a small USB adapter that lets you connect an old floppy disk drive to a modern PC, Mac, or Linux computer, enabling reading and writing of floppy disks from any system using Shugart-standard drives -- including Amiga, Atari, Commodore, Amstrad, Sinclair, and PC. By extracting raw flux transitions from the drive, any disk format can be captured and analysed, including copy-protected formats across a wide range of platforms. Version 4.1 adds buffered outputs for older 5.25-inch and 8-inch drives, an integrated power connector for most 3.5-inch drives, a USB-C connector, ESD protection on the USB data lines, and a write-enable jumper that can be removed for safer preservation of precious vintage disks. Writing to floppy disks is also supported from a range of image file formats commonly used for online preservation, including ADF, IPF, DSK, IMG, and HFE. Note that a separate floppy disk drive and ribbon cable are required and are not included.
