About this deal

GFA BASIC is a dialect of the BASIC programming language, developed by Frank Ostrowski at GFA Systemtechnik GmbH, a German company. It was ported to the Amiga after finding success on the Atari ST. It quickly became a preferred choice for Amiga developers who found the bundled AmigaBASIC too limited, offering a better IDE and faster performance. Published by GFA Data Media Ltd in the UK, this package targets the Commodore Amiga. GFA BASIC does away with line numbers, with one line equivalent to one command, and includes a solid range of structured programming features such as procedures with local variables and parameter passing by value or reference. Direct access to operating system routines allows programming close to the system, and assembler and C subroutines can be included using commands such as RCALL and MONITOR. Amiga screens and windows can be opened and managed through straightforward commands. The thick manual covers both version 3.0 and the 3.5 update, and the package includes the interpreter on disk. A collectable piece of retro computing history, sold here in used condition.
