The Nintendo Game Boy Color is an 8-bit handheld game console developed by Nintendo , released in Japan in October 1998 and in international markets the following month. Compared with the original Game Boy, it features a colour TFT screen, a CPU running at up to twice the speed, and four times as much memory. The screen measures 2.3 inches diagonally. The colour screen is not backlit, so a light source is needed to play in dark conditions. The console runs on two AA batteries. It is backward compatible with games developed for its predecessor, giving access to a large existing library straight away. The Game Boy Color also features an infrared wireless link-up port. Green (known as Kiwi) was one of the original launch colours. This used console has been tested and confirmed working but does not include the battery cover, so buyers may need to source a replacement cover before use.
