After many years out of print, this classic strategy board game was reissued by Gale Force Nine in 2019. For two to six players aged 12 and up, with games typically lasting around two hours, each player becomes the leader of one of six great factions, each vying to control melange, the mysterious spice found only on the planet Dune. The six factions -- Atreides, Bene Gesserit, Emperor, Fremen, Spacing Guild, and Harkonnen -- each start with different amounts of spice and troops, field leaders of varying values, and play with distinct special abilities. The 2019 edition features new artwork by Russian illustrator Ilya77, while Gale Force Nine made very few changes to the original rules, tweaking only around three to five per cent of them. The box includes six faction-specific reference cards giving each player an easy overview of their special rules and starting resources, as well as six faction screens and five unique leaders per faction -- 30 leader tokens in total -- all characters drawn directly from Frank Herbert's novels. A great choice for fans of the books or anyone who enjoys deep, negotiation-heavy strategy games.
