The Topping DX5 II is a fully balanced desktop DAC and headphone amplifier aimed at serious home audio enthusiasts. At its core are dual ES9039Q2M DAC chips, supporting high-resolution PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512 decoding. This dual-DAC approach reduces crosstalk and improves stereo imaging while pushing SNR and dynamic range to 133dB. It moves from ESS's previous HyperStream II modulator to the latest HyperStream IV architecture. The X-Hybrid amplifier represents a new technological step beyond NFCA architecture, using a triple-stage hybrid design that retains ultra-low distortion and high dynamic range while also achieving improved efficiency and reduced heat. The fully balanced quad-channel amplifier delivers 7600mW x2 output, suited to both demanding high-impedance headphones and sensitive IEMs. Headphone outputs include a 6.35mm single-ended jack, a 4.4mm balanced jack, and a 4-pin XLR balanced jack. Bluetooth 5.1 is also on board, with support for LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC codecs. A 10-band parametric EQ with self-developed IV circuitry allows precise sound tuning , and a preamp mode lets you connect the unit directly to a power amplifier or active speakers.
