Cheese Cat-Astrophe Starring Speedy Gonzales is a 1995 platform game developed by Cryo Interactive and published by Sega for the Mega Drive (as well as the Master System and Game Gear). The Mega Drive version received a PAL-only release, meaning it was exclusively available to European players. Sylvester the Cat, under the alter-ego Dr. Cheesefinger, has kidnapped the cheese supply and Speedy's girlfriend Carmel, and Speedy must outwit the callous cat and rescue both. You play as Speedy Gonzales, with the goal of each level being to rescue captive mice; Speedy can attack enemies by jumping on them or throwing his sombrero at them. Pressing a button causes Speedy to race across the screen at high speed, which can be used to break through obstacles or jump higher and farther, though he becomes harder to control during this dash. There are four worlds, each with three action stages and one boss stage, except for the final world, which has two boss stages.
