This is a custom-built retro computing project: a Raspberry Pi running the BMC64 bare metal emulator, housed inside a Commodore VIC-20 shell. BMC64 is a bare metal C64 emulator for the Raspberry Pi with true 50hz/60hz smooth scrolling and low latency between input and video/audio. Four other Commodore machines are supported as well: C128, VIC20, Plus/4 and PET. The build outputs via HDMI and loads software from an SD card, making it a clean, modern setup inside a classic retro case with a backlit LED. The project uses VICE for emulation without any operating system installed on the Pi, with VICE platform dependencies satisfied using circle-stdlib.
