About this deal
A great opportunity for fans of early 1990s independent comics, this lot brings together issues from some of the most celebrated titles to come out of Image Comics and beyond. The Maxx is a series created by Sam Kieth, originally published by Image Comics from 1993 to 1998. It follows a homeless man who believes he is a superhero, shifting between the real world and a dream world he calls the Outback, with his only friend being Julie Winters, a freelance social worker. Savage Dragon, also from Image, follows a superheroic police officer who is a large, finned, green-skinned humanoid with super-strength and an advanced healing factor, whose earliest memory is awakening in a burning field in Chicago. Vampirella is a vampire superheroine created by Forrest J Ackerman and Trina Robbins, first appearing in Warren Publishing's black-and-white horror comics magazine in September 1969. She is a fascinating mix of science fiction and horror, initially hailing from a humanoid-vampire crossover race on the planet Drakulon. Youngblood, another Image title, ties the lot together as a team-based superhero series that crossed over with both Savage Dragon and other Image properties. This is a solid mixed lot for collectors interested in the darker, creator-owned comics of the 1990s, listed in good condition.
