About this deal
This is a BBC Micro Model B Issue 7 motherboard with 32K RAM and a Disc Filing System (DFS) ROM installed, listed as non-working and sold for parts or repair. The BBC Micro went through five released circuit board revisions, from Issue 1 through to Issue 7, with issues 5 and 6 never making it into production. The most commonly found types are Issues 4 and 7. The DFS shipped as a ROM and disc controller chip fitted to the BBC Micro's motherboard, with the initial design based around an Intel 8271 disc drive controller. This board will appeal to retro computing enthusiasts and restorers working on BBC Micro machines. Programming languages and applications on the BBC Micro were supplied on ROM chips installed on the motherboard, loading instantly and leaving RAM free for programs. The computer included several I/O interfaces: serial and parallel printer ports, an 8-bit general purpose digital I/O port, analogue inputs, and an expansion connector known as the 1MHz bus. Sold as not working and suitable for parts or repair only.
